Mark Wahlberg: Dr. Do-a-lot
Fox News
It was supposed to be serious stuff last night at GQ Magazine’s Gentleman Fund dinner at the Supper Club on West 47th St. "Marky" Mark Wahlberg was being honored with his brother Joe and their friend Mike Joyce for their work in Boston on the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation. They raise money that funds Boys and Girls Clubs and other similar organizations in the area that they grew up in.
My colleague, Jada Yuan, of New York Magazine and I got to talking to Mark’s older brother Jim, the executive director of the Foundation, about all the good things they do. Jada asked him if he’d heard about the "Saturday Night Live" sketch that Mark objects to — Andy Samberg’s hilarious skit called "Mark Walhberg Talks to Animals."
"He does talk to animals!" Jim told us. "He does it all the time."
He does? This was news. "Nah. I’m just jokin with ya," Jim said in his best, most melodious Dorchester (Daw-chesta) accent.

Ward, Wahlberg and Labor Unions Team Up In Fight For Children
Seconds Out
Legendary boxing warrior "Irish" Micky Ward has joined forces with actor Mark Wahlberg and Labor leaders throughout the USA, to support and assist inner-city children in making their dreams become a reality.
They will host their first group event, an evening of amateur boxing on July 25 at the 2nd Annual Boston Labor’s Fight Night at the Roxy in Boston. The private event with a limited number of corporate sponsorships still available, will include an open bar, hors d’ouvres, raffles, live auctions, silent auctions, giveaways, and the opportunity to meet the many celebrity attendees!
Ward got involved with these fund-raising events two years ago, when he attended the 4th Annual Chicago Labor’s Fight Night with Arturo Gatti. Since that evening he has formed "The Team Micky Ward Charitable Foundation" and currently plans on doing two such events a year with The Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation - with the other event to be held in Chicago. In the three events they have put on thus far, Ward has raised over $200,000, with the money having been dispersed to various charitable organizations throughout the country. With the addition of Mark Wahlberg’s support, the future promises an even greater amount of success.
"I may be retired from boxing, but I haven’t stopped fighting yet," Ward states. "The Team Micky Ward Charitable Foundation has now teamed up with Wahlberg and the Labor Movement in an effort to help the inner-city youth whenever, and wherever, possible. Anyone that’s ever seen me fight, knows that I gave one-hundred-percent inside the boxing ring, and I will continue to do so for this tremendous cause. Now that I have joined forces with the Unions, Mark and everyone involved with the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation, this is a fight that we won’t lose!"
Mark Wahlberg began the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation in 2001. Since the inception of the Foundation, Mark with the help of friends and family has since dedicated countless hours of his time in striving to help inner-city children to overcome their financial circumstances and attain their dreams. Whether it be taking hundreds of children camping in Martha’s Vineyard, feeding 700 needy families in South Central Los Angeles on Thanksgiving, or picking up the tab for the cost of field trips for middle-school children in Hackensack, New Jersey, Mark is always at the ready, when it comes to making himself available to help children in need.
Ward’s life after boxing has brought about many new ventures, to include his capacity as a boxing trainer. Currently, Ward is winding down training camp with Arturo Gatti, as Gatti prepares for his upcoming, July 14 bout with Alfonso Gomez. Arturo enlisted the assistance of Ward, bringing him in as head trainer for his HBO showdown with Gomez, putting the final touches on the real life Rocky story. Amongst his many post-boxing endeavors, Ward is currently awaiting a Paramount Productions movie based on his life and boxing career. The movie, which is to aptly be named "The Fighter," is slated to begin filming sometime this year, with Mark Wahlberg slated to play the part of Micky.

DMC at Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation party
Boston Herald & the Boston Globe
Darryl "DMC" McDaniels was at the new opening of Boston’s new Equinox gym. The event included an online auction that offers a walk-on part on the HBO Wahlberg-helmed “Entourage,” and a chance to lunch with “Sopranos” stars Edie Falco (Carmela Soprano) Aida Turturro (Janice Soprano) and Sharon Angela (Rosalie Aprile).
All proceeds of the auction benefited The Felix Organization and The Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation.
“Me and (“Sopranos” and “Entourage” casting director) Shelia Jaffe met Mark for dinner and he was like, ‘Oh my God. Anything you need man, I’ll get it. Do you know who you are?! Do you know who you are?!’ ” laughed McDaniels, who started The Felix Organization/Adoptees for Children with Jaffe.

"She [Jaffe] said to me, ‘Darryl, you got to meet somebody,’ and that’s when I met Mark, because, you know, he has his Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation to help inner-city kids,” he said.

From Star (Mark must you talk to such a trashy mag? You do have your own website): "I'm here trying to raise money for inner-city kids," Wahlberg told Star. "That's where I came from. I can't forget that. And this is not a hard thing to do -- I'm fortunate enough to know people who have a lot of money!" Mark's friends were in a giving mood -- his bash raised $200,000!

Wahlberg gets into the seasonal spirit
Boston Globe
Thanks to *~Concrete_Rose~* at MW.com
Mark Wahlberg might've been wearing a black leather jacket and Boston Celtics T-shirt, but he looked a whole lot like Santa Claus to some 265 young people at Fenway Park's State Street Pavilion yesterday. The recent Golden Globe nominee's Boston-based youth foundation had a party for the kids and gave out $125,000 to several area youth programs. Joining Wahlberg were three of his brothers -- chef Paul, actor Bob, and Jimmy, who runs the youth foundation -- and their sister, Tracey. State Representative Linda Dorcena Forry and her husband, Bill, were also on hand and will join Wahlberg, the star of "The Departed," for a reunion of the Daniel Marr Boys and Girls Club in March at UMass-Boston. Yesterday, Wahlberg handed out gifts from sponsors including Old Navy, the Sox, the Celtics, Converse, Reebok, and Roche Bros.

Mark not at Rodman Holiday for Kids
Boston Globe
Among the more than 2,000 people to head to the Seaport Hotel to support auto magnate - turned - philanthropist Don Rodman's fourth annual "Rodman Holiday for Kids" on Saturday were"Saw III" star Donnie Wahlberg and his brother Jimmy. The duo were greeted by well-wishers who congratulated them on their work in Martin Scorsese's "The Departed." Only problem was, that would be the other Wahlberg brothers, Mark and Bob. (Mark, slated to be at Rodman's event, will return to Boston Dec. 17 to host an event to benefit Boston's Boys and Girls Clubs.) Rodman's "time" was expected to raise several hundred thousand dollars for at-risk children.
